DIY Light Fixtures - gorgeous & green!

Right now I have been perusing some DIY sites for light fixtures and other things that I can add to my home. I consider myself semi-crafty so I thought I could put some of my creativity to good use and save on decor by making some items myself. Also, a lot of these options are a way to reuse items that would otherwise be thrown away... and I'm a bit of a tree-hugger so this makes me extra happy! Feng shui?
I think so!

I especially love this light fixture made out of... EGG CARTONS from addicted2decorating.com! If I can get my hands on some blue cartons, I think this would look pretty awesome in my bedroom:

Another great concept is to embellish a plain lamp with felt, like the one from this design*sponge tutorial, and you can create something breathtaking like this:

And here is one more I found that details how to make a pendant lamp from recycled laundry detergent cups. Upcycling turns chic!

I will update as I attempt some of these homemade decorating ideas!

a fresh start

Well 2010 is almost upon us, and ironically I've been absorbed with a book I borrowed from my sister-in-love called "Feng Shui Your Life."

Feng Shui Your Life by Jayme Barrett

So I thought - why not try to follow these ideas of feng shui in our new apartment and see if there really is something to it? My life can be a complicated drama but also a blissful comfort... but I'd love to get it more in order and bring as many "good vibes" as I can. If you know me personally, you probably have an idea of some of the strange things my girlfriend and I have faced in the past. So why not try rearranging the world around me and see what it can do?

Well... here it goes!
